Meet the Rovers

Perseverance
Launched in 2020, Perseverance is the latest Mars rover. It is designed to seek signs of past microbial life and collect samples for future return missions to Earth. It also carries the Ingenuity helicopter, which successfully demonstrated powered flight in the thin Martian atmosphere.

Curiosity
Launched in 2011 as part of the Mars Science Laboratory mission, Curiosity is a large rover equipped with advanced scientific instruments to analyze rocks and soil. It has been exploring Gale Crater since its landing in 2012 and has provided significant insights into Mars' ancient habitability.

Spirit
Launched in 2003 as part of the Mars Exploration Rover mission, Spirit was a robotic rover that played a vital role in advancing our knowledge of Mars. It landed in Gusev Crater and explored the region's geology, helping scientists uncover evidence of past water activity and volcanic history. Spirit's mission lasted well beyond its initial 90-day design, ultimately ceasing communications in 2010.

Opportunity
Also launched in 2003 as part of the same mission, Opportunity achieved remarkable success on the Martian surface. Landing in Meridiani Planum, it uncovered signs of the planet's watery past and confirmed the presence of ancient liquid water. The rover set a longevity record, operating for over 14 years until a massive dust storm in 2018 led to the end of its mission.
